Hi everyone
This blog post, for the most part, is intended to be an alternative to the email that was sent out to everyone. It’s a just in case measure for people who did not get the email or for those who did not get it in their inbox (and landed straight into the junk/spam box).
We’ve lately seen an increase in the number of people joining our service from the EU, in particular, the UK. And we did get a couple tickets with regards to speed issues for them. Now naturally, geo-location plays a big part in determining the maximum speed you can achieve, and the fact that our servers are housed in the US did not help the case with our UK users.
Based on the number of complaints we received and an overall internal estimate, we decided to deploy a server in the UK for our users in the UK and the EU. The server is up, and is housed in one of the top datacenters – UK2 (some know it as Softlayer). The performance has been beyond impressive based on our initial tests and our real time tests to and from the US servers, as well as other servers and locations.
We won’t be switching every EU user to the UK server, obviously, because some have had a good experience with our US servers and would not want to change that. So, what we’ve planned for a different method of production based deployment. If you are from UK or the EU, and you have had sub-optimal speeds or not the ones that you would want or expect, then you can try out the test link below. If it works better for you, submit a ticket on the helpdesk (http://helpdesk.rpnet.biz) and make sure the category is Server Move Requests. Once we get through to your ticket, your account will be moved over to our server in the UK.
The test file link, to test the UK server out, is below:

The other important announcement, is DL4’s move. A few weeks back, we moved DL2 over to a different, better DC. Based on the feedback and overall performance, we’ve decided to move over DL4 too. For the most part, this shouldn’t matter to anyone, since the move will be transparent and the transition will be smooth enough. If, however, you notice you’re unable to connect to DL4 over the next few days, please open a ticket for resolution of your issue
On a different note, and this was not added to the email, we have been considering obtaining the services of a specialized email marketing company. This won’t make any changes to how we send emails, and it most definitely will not increase the frequency of emails sent out. All it will do, is increase the reliability by ten fold, and ensure a greater % of delivery to the inbox, instead of the spambox (which could be the case right now).
Beyond that, I’m also going to commence a wiki for RPNet. There’s stuff in the system that many people have not known, and still do not know. A publicly available wiki detailing every feature our elaborate system has to offer, would most definitely be a nice move. Since it’ll require compiling quite some information, don’t expect the wiki to be up and running soon; it’ll take a while
That’s all there is, for the time being. Thanks for reading this, and we hope you continue to enjoy your experience with us. We’ve always been the one to put our customers first, and we’ve gone to great lengths to prove that. And we intend to continue doing that.
Cheers,

hello hamza you are great! thanks for your service. but dl link preparement and download starting time is little bit delayed (i am waiting for about20secs. for each process) and speed is 200-300kbs for my 8mbit adsl. (it should be 300-500kbs). do you have any server suggestion?.
have a nice day

I second that notion regarding an Australian server.
